What's going on with Maynard's Groovy Bible Tunes, from day to day...
That took a while, didn't it?
Rather foolishly, I've only just installed IE9 and checked the website - only to find that my nice scrolling boxes on the jukebox were not working. Not much of a problem given that only about 4% of visitors use it, but still - not good, in the world of web design. Tsk David.
So - I've updated to the latest versions of Prototype and Scriptaculous, and now the scrolling boxes don't just work, they work better! I've implemented mouse-wheel scrolling. The wonders of Javascript.
Hopefully that'll help everyone to use and enjoy the jukebox.
This is a gem of an addition - why I haven't done this before, I really don't know.
Anyway, here's what it is: you can now have the Jukebox play the tracks in sequence, one after another. It'll do this in order, or in a shuffled way. It works with Full tracks, snippets and backing tracks. You can even turn it off. Just click on the "AutoPlay - In Order" or "AutoPlay - Shuffled" buttons underneath the player bar (on the right hand side).
So now you can just leave it on in the background, and have Maynard's Groovy Bible Tunes as your background music all day!!!
How does this work? It's the wonder of Flowplayer - www.flowplayer.org
I've had a little go at the Jukebox's design today.
My main aim was to put the song buttons in a scrolling area, because with 50+ songs, the list had become a bit too big.
It was easy to change the buttons area to a 'div' with 'overflow:auto', and a fixed height - trouble was, the scrollbars looked rubbish. Fortunately the gorgeous Scriptaculous has come to the rescue, with a Javascript powered slider bar, both for the song buttons, and for the lyrics.
I think they're quite nice, do you?
Now that flowplayer is working properly, I've started to add more features to the Jukebox.
The first one is something I need when I'm getting ready for kids' assemblies - a way of seeing all the actions alongside the song so that I can practice doing them!
So, now, you click the [more info] box, or the text underneath,
and you get an actions pop-up!
